Apprenticeships

Florida State Registered Apprenticeship Programs

Registered apprenticeship programs enable employers to develop and apply industry standards to training programs for registered apprentices that can increase productivity and improve the quality of the workforce. Apprentices who complete registered apprenticeship programs are accepted by the industry as journey workers. By providing on-the-job training, related classroom instruction, and guaranteed wage structures, employers who sponsor apprentices provide incentives to attract and retain more highly qualified employees and improve productivity. Certifications earned through registered apprenticeship programs are recognized nationwide. Click HERE for a list of registered programs in our region.

Tampa Area Electrical JATC Apprentice Program

The demand for skilled workers has been increasingly steady, even during times of economic decline.  Through a certified apprenticeship program, you can learn the trade while you earn wages. Tampa Area Electrical JATC offers a tuition-free apprenticeship program in electrical construction where students can earn wages while receiving the training needed to become highly skilled journeymen wiremen (electricians). ABC Florida Gulf Coast Apprenticeship Program

The purpose of the apprenticeship program is to develop a qualified, adaptable, and most important, safe workforce. A skilled workforce creates profit for both the worker and the contractor. Owners of projects expect contractors to produce a quality project at a competitive price. And contractors must have skilled, safe workers to be competitive. That’s where apprenticeship comes in. ABC Florida Gulf Coast offers apprenticeships in Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Sheet Metal, Pipefitting, and Sprinkler Fitting. Click HERE for more info!

Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) Florida Westcoast Chapter

ICE offers an electrical training apprenticeship. Entry wages are based on experience starting at $12.61 per hour, but no experience is required – and receive a raise every 1,000 hours of On The Job Training. After completing our program, you will qualify for state certification or licensing and can take the Journeyman’s Exam with only 8,000 hours of OJT rather than 12,000 – saving you around 2 years. Tuition is free to the Apprentice, paid for by the Member Contractor, IEC FWCC, the State of Florida, and the Institution where you take classes. Click HERE for more info!
